During the meeting, which was held at the Commission's headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, the two sides discussed ways to support the electoral process in Libya, and the level of readiness of the Commission to implement the municipal council elections.
The Commission said that the Egyptian Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Commission in preparation for completing the voting process for the 2024 municipal council elections.
The High National Elections Commission had set Saturday, November 16, as the date for voting in the municipal council elections - the first group.
The number of registered voters in the first phase of the municipal council elections reached 210,545 voters, according to the Commission's statistics.
Last September, the National Elections Commission announced the features of the municipal council election system, explaining that municipalities with a population of 25,000 or less will have seven members in the municipal council.
The seats in these municipalities are distributed into five seats on a list system (three general seats, one seat for women, and one for people with disabilities), in addition to two individual seats.
