Dabaiba discusses with Orlando the developments in Libya
Pulbished on:Tripoli, November 5, 2024 (LANA) - The head of the Government of National Unity, "Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba", discussed on Tuesday with the European Union Ambassador to Libya, "Nicola Orlando", developments in the political situation in Libya and the European role in supporting stability and enhancing development paths in the country.
Our government's page on "Facebook" stated that the meeting dealt with following up on the results of the previous visit of the head of government "Al-Dabaiba" to the headquarters of the European Union last May.
He explained that the meeting discussed a number of common files, including the immigration file, the outcomes of the Trans-Mediterranean Migration Forum hosted by Tripoli last July, and ways to enhance cooperation to confront the challenges of the flow of migrants, and the European Union's support for Libya's efforts in managing this file.
Dabaiba stressed during the meeting, according to the page, the importance of taking practical steps towards lifting the ban imposed on Libyan flights in European airspace, indicating Libya's readiness to work with European authorities to meet the necessary requirements with the aim of resuming direct flights and enhancing communication between Libya and Europe.
The meeting also reviewed ways of joint cooperation to enhance the use of renewable energy sources in Libya as part of the government's vision to move towards a sustainable economy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
During his discussion in the field of alternative energy, the Prime Minister of the Unity Government stressed the importance of the European Union's support for energy projects in Libya, and the exchange of European expertise and experiences in this field, which contributes to achieving sustainable development and providing new job opportunities for Libyan youth.
