Chuma stresses the UN's commitment to support Libya.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, 3 November 2024 (Lana): Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the UN and Resident Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs in Libya, Aeneas Chuma, visited Benghazi and discussed the continued humanitarian and development efforts of the UN in coordination with the Libyan authorities.
The visit made by Chuma on October 29-30 is the first to Benghazi since assuming his new position on October 8, succeeding the Canadian Georgette Gagnon, according to a tweet by the UNSMIL.
During the visit, Chuma held meetings with representatives of UN agencies, during which he reiterated the UN’s commitment to provide "support to all people in Libya" based on the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and operational independence, which govern the UN’s humanitarian work.
