Tripoli, October 29, 2024 (LANA) - Italian Prime Minister "Georgia Meloni" arrived in Tripoli on Tuesday to participate in the 30th session of the Libyan-Italian Business Forum, which is held over two days within the framework of enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Italian Prime Minister and her accompanying delegation were received at Mitiga International Airport by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs "Adel Jumaa", head of the preparatory committee for the forum, and a number of ministers and government officials.

The Libyan-Italian Forum, hosted by the Tripoli International Fair, will start today with the participation of more than 150 Italian companies. It will be organized into four main points: "The first will be dedicated to the energy and mining sector, the second to development and infrastructure, the third to health care and pharmaceutical industry, while the fourth will address fishing and agriculture."

The forum will also include a business exhibition and cultural activities to enhance academic and cultural exchange between the two countries.

Minister of State for Prime Ministerial Affairs "Adel Jumaa" said in a statement to Italian media that the Libyan-Italian Economic Forum represents a new and solid stage for Libya towards strategic cooperation with Italy.

Jumaa expected that memorandum of understanding would be signed on the sidelines of the forum in the sectors covered, whether at the public or private level, expressing his hope that the business forum would be able to encourage "twinning between universities and research projects and sending new Libyan students to Italy."
