Al-Lafi discusses with Khoury ways to support the political process in Libya and national reconciliation.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, October 22, 2024 (LANA) - Deputy of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed today, Tuesday, with the Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Libya, "Stephanie Khoury", ways to support the political process in Libya and national reconciliation.
According to the media office of the Presidential Council, the meeting dealt with developments in the current scene, ways to support the political process in Libya, in addition to developments in the national reconciliation file, and stressing the mission's continuation of cooperation, and work on the path of reconciliation and transitional justice, and overcoming any difficulties facing the holding of the comprehensive conference.
During the meeting, Khoury reviewed her most prominent meetings, since she presented her last briefing to the UN Security Council.
The Secretary-General's representative praised the Presidential Council's support for the mission's work throughout the past period, and appreciated Al-Lafi's participation in the signing ceremony of the agreement between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State regarding the appointment of the Governor of the Central Bank, according to the media office. For his part, Al-Lafi stressed the need for a clear political path in the coming stage, to end the state of stagnation in the political process, to pave the way for holding the electoral entitlements, pointing to the importance of the step of appointing the Board of Directors of the Central Bank.
