Dabaiba adopts the national strategy to address the repercussions of the spread of the phenomenon of drugs and psychotropic substances

Tripoli, October 22, 2024 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity - Chairman of the National Council for Economic and Social Development, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, accompanied by the Ministers of Justice and Social Affairs, the Minister in charge of running the tasks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, approved the national strategy to address the repercussions of the spread of the phenomenon of drugs and psychotropic substances, during his participation in the launch celebration organized by the National Council for Economic and Social Development.

In a speech during the celebration, the Director General of the Council, Mahmoud Al-Futaisi, stressed the role of the government in formulating national strategies aimed at combating poverty and destitution, and protecting society from the spread of the phenomenon of drugs and psychotropic substances, by assigning the Council to participate with more than 27 ministries and government sectors and a number of national experts to formulate the strategies approved today, and work to complete another number before the end of this year.

Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba stressed the importance of the role assigned to the Council in preparing the necessary national strategies at this stage, most notably the interest in social protection by launching the necessary initiatives such as the wife and children grant, facilitating marriage, youth lending, and others, in addition to launching the national strategy that regulates these activities and initiatives.

Dabaiba also praised the cooperation between the Attorney General's Office, the Ministry of Justice, and the National Council for Economic Development in preparing the national strategy to address the repercussions of the spread of the phenomenon of drugs and psychotropic substances, which contributes to taking executive steps to combat this phenomenon, and establishing social and judicial centers concerned with this file.

At the end of the celebration, the Prime Minister approved the strategies and issued his instructions to the Ministries of Social Affairs and Justice to work in accordance with them.

The approval ceremony was attended by a number of undersecretaries of ministries, heads of institutions and bodies, and representatives of relevant international organizations.
