Tripoli 13 October 2024 (Lana) President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, called on the House of Representatives (HoR) and the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) to implement court rulings to cancel the imposition of a fee tax on the sale of foreign currency.
Al-Menfi demanded in a letter last Thursday to immediately adhere to the court rulings, not to disdain them, and to refrain from any measures that represent the abuse of power and a direct material obstacle to the rule of law.
Al-Menfi stressed that the priority is to agree on budget or joint financial arrangements that address the inflation in unjustified expenditures, not to accept them and burden the people with their costs and the actual value of their salaries and savings.
