Abu Janah discusses with the British Ambassador to Libya issues of economic cooperation and current political developments.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, October 12, 2024 (LANA) - Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity and Head of the Southern Development Authority, "Ramadan Abu Janah", discussed on Thursday, with the British Ambassador to Libya, "Martin Longden", a number of issues, most notably economic cooperation and current political developments.
The page of MP "Ramadan Abu Janah" on "Facebook" explained that the meeting addressed the urgent need for all Libyan parties to unite to develop and reconstruct the south, as this matter has positive effects on the region as a whole, in light of the availability of natural resources, water and solar energy sources, and the presence of specialized universities and institutes with high competencies of academics who can be involved in developing a strategy aimed at the stability and prosperity of the south.
During the meeting, the British Ambassador stressed his country's support for the political process in Libya, stressing the importance of moving forward towards organizing free and fair elections to achieve stability in the country.
The two sides discussed, regarding medical cooperation, ways to enhance cooperation regarding the transfer and localization of technology in Libya and inviting British companies specialized in hospital management to operate some health facilities in Libya, as well as the importance of supporting and enhancing cooperation and partnerships between the private sectors in the two countries.
"Abu Janah" referred to the reputation and quality of British medicines, expressing his support for increasing imports of medicines and medical equipment from the United Kingdom, and working to request urgent action from the relevant authorities to settle any previous debts and accelerate the implementation of supply contracts signed for British companies through the Public Tenders Committee and with the approval of the Administrative Control Authority.
The meeting was attended by Counselor "Ahmed Al-Ayat", Head of the Southern Office, and on the British side, Counselor for Political Affairs "Farouk Al-Najeh", and member of the political team at the embassy "Yon Hersin".
At the end of the meeting, His Excellency Abu Janah thanked the United Kingdom, the permanent member state of the Security Council and Libya's strategic partner, for its support and important role within the Security Working Group, one of the tracks emanating from the Berlin process led by the United Nations for Libya.
