Al-Sunni stresses the need to end the transitional stages and stop negative interference in national decisions.
Pulbished on:New York, October 9, 2024 (LANA) - Libya's representative to the United Nations, "Taher Al-Sunni", stressed the need to end the transitional stages in Libya, stop negative interference in the national decision, accelerate the unification of the military institution, and end foreign presence.
Al-Sunni said in a speech before the Security Council session on Libya today, Wednesday, that everyone must respect the political agreement as a basic reference for reaching a political solution in Libya and closing the door to those who want to exacerbate the situation in the country. Al-Sunni continued that there is a national capacity to organize elections, and that the problem is not technical and logistical, but rather political. He pointed out that there are correspondences to the Sanctions Committee regarding exceptions related to frozen funds, and we have not been officially notified of them, and this is unacceptable, calling for informing the mission so that it can be officially responded to.
The Libyan delegate to the United Nations called for not using oil as an economic tool for blackmail or pressure, and building on the agreement of the sovereign institutions regarding the Central Bank of Libya with the aim of reaching a consensus on financial arrangements and the unified budget, expressing his hope that the international panic to find a permanent solution to the political situation in Libya would be at the same pace as the search for a solution to the Central Bank crisis, and that the matter would not be limited to money and resources.
Al-Sunni again denounced the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and said that the blood of innocents who were killed in Palestine and are still being killed is a stain on the forehead of everyone who contributed to and supported these attacks and atrocities or even remained silent about them.
