Tripoli, 8 October 2024 (Lana), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil Corporation, Farhat Bengdara, met with the EU Mission in Libya and discussed opportunities for cooperation in sustainable oil and gas growth, renewable energy, environmental protection, and energy connectivity with a strong role for the private sector.

This came during his meeting with the Head of Mission, Nicola Orlando, the Head of Cooperation, Martin Benedek, and the Mission's Energy and Climate Action Program Officer, Jan Mattke.

According to the mission on its official page, they also agreed to explore collaboration on reducing methane emissions, supporting Libya’s commitment to zero flaring, and looking forward to deepening its sustainable energy partnership.

“Boosting Libya’s hydrocarbon production in a sustainable way and tapping into its vast renewable energy potential are shared priorities for Libya and the EU to meet growing internal demand and strengthen our partnership,” the mission said.
