Al-Aqouri stresses the House of Representatives’ keenness to follow up on international reports issued regarding human rights.
Pulbished on:Benghazi, September 29, 2024 (LANA) - The head of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee in the House of Representatives, "Youssef Al-Aqouri", stressed the importance of studying international reports and preparing responses to them in parallel to enhance human rights in Libya in order to block any foreign interference and improve the image of Libyan institutions abroad.
This came during his review of the draft report prepared by the team formed by the House of Representatives' Diwan to study the report of the United Nations Human Rights Council issued in June 2024, and prepare responses to it, according to the spokesman for the Council, Adallah Blihaq.
"Al-Aqouri" pointed out the House of Representatives' keenness to follow up on international reports issued regarding human rights and the work of the relevant executive bodies to respond to them.
The head of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee in the House of Representatives praised the work of the team that prepared the response in a short period by arranging a series of consultation sessions with the relevant local authorities.
He explained that there are a number of positive things in the human rights issue that the State of Libya has done, which the United Nations report neglected to mention, such as receiving displaced persons from Sudan, easing procedures regarding illegal immigrants, and reconciliation and reconstruction in all regions of Libya.
