New York 29 September 2024 (Lana): Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Al-Taher Al-Baour, signed Libya’s accession to two UN agreements as a step to protect state property abroad and protect it from attacks.

This came at the conclusion of the Libyan delegation’s participation in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The ministry stated on its Facebook that Al-Baour signed Libya's accession to the United Nations Convention on the Immunity of States and Their Property from Jurisdiction and also to join the Convention on the Judicial Sale of Ships known as the Beijing Convention.

The ministry added that this step is important to fortify state property abroad and protect it from attacks, based on consultations that took place between the relevant national institutions, whether judicial or political in the country.
