New York, 26 September 2024 (Lana) President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, met yesterday in New York, Secretary-General of UN, António Guterres, on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting discussed the political situation in Libya and practical steps to get out of the political impasse in coordination with the UNSMIL.

For his side, Al-Menfi stressed his full commitment and efforts to find a consensus among the political parties, stating his support for reaching agreements about the Central Bank of Libya that take into account the political agreement and the roadmap, address all unilateral decisions, and continue working with international partners to achieve peace and stability in Libya and reach a real and just political settlement that will lead the country to elections.
