Al-Baour meets with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict.
Pulbished on:New York, September 25, 2024 (LANA) - The person in charge of running the affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, "Taher Al-Baour", met with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, "Virginia Gamba" on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to the official page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, Wednesday, the meeting addressed a set of important issues related to the protection of children in Libya during the conflict.
For his part, "Al-Baour" expressed the importance of joint cooperation in presenting facts about the situation of children and the extent of their impact due to conflicts, and reflecting these facts in the reports of the Secretary-General in a manner consistent with reality, noting that the numbers related to violations against children are still low compared to other cases in conflict areas in the world.
Al-Baour also referred to the challenges facing migrant children who fall victim to human trafficking gangs and organized crime, pointing to the collective responsibility of the international community towards these violations.
The two sides agreed to work together to develop preventive mechanisms that would improve the situation of children and ensure their protection, including providing the necessary technical support from the United Nations and its various agencies, according to the same source.
