Al-Manfi meets in New York with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.
Pulbished on:New York, September 23, 2024 (LANA) - The President of the Presidential Council, "Mohamed Al-Manfi", reviewed today, Monday, in New York, with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, "Karim Khan", aspects of cooperation between the Libyan judiciary and the International Criminal Court in cases related to human rights and other issues, and the necessity of applying the law throughout Libyan territory.
The media office of the Presidential Council reported that the Prosecutor General confirmed that the situation in Libya is a full priority for his office, and that deepening cooperation with the Libyan authorities and seeking accountability is one of the basic principles of the International Criminal Court, and affirming respect for international law to achieve justice, stressing that he will soon complete the procedures for revealing the names of those involved in crimes committed inside Libya according to the mandate granted to him.
According to the same source, "Al-Manfi" in turn confirmed that Libya is committed to holding accountable and punishing the perpetrators of crimes and violations stipulated in Libyan law, and that he has confidence in the national judiciary and its ability to hold the guilty accountable despite the challenges facing the Libyan state, and that cooperation with the Office of the Prosecutor and the Libyan judiciary should be in accordance with the principle of integration.
Al-Manfi also stressed the importance of enforcing the law and establishing the principle of revealing the truth and accountability in order to support the path of transitional justice and comprehensive national reconciliation.
