Al-Huwaij reassures citizens that Libya has a strategic reserve of all basic materials sufficient for at least three months

Tripoli, September 22, 2024 (LANA) - The Minister of Economy and Trade in the interim Government of National Unity, "Mohammed Al-Huwaij", announced that Libya has a strategic reserve of all basic materials sufficient for a minimum of three months, and all credits will be opened during this week according to the information we have.

"Al-Huwaij" said in a press conference on Sunday evening about the economic situation in the country (I want to reassure people that there is a stock of basic commodities throughout the country, east, west and south, and that the goods are available and we even export them. For example, the per capita share of sugar in the world is 22 kilos, while in Libya it is 100 kilos).

The Minister "Al-Huwaij" called on banks and traders to activate their bank credits and adhere to the previous prices, saying that all credits will be opened during this week according to the information we have.

 Al-Huwaij pointed out in the press conference that through our external contacts, they said that we cannot prevent food, medicine and essential things from the citizen, calling on the security and control authorities to move to control and monitor prices, oblige traders to adhere to official prices and prevent speculation in the dollar and foreign currencies.

Al-Huwaij warned that the dollar has become like a commodity, and it is not permissible to turn the currency into a trade.
