Preparations to organize the Benghazi International Hand Surgery Conference with the participation of twenty countries.

Benghazi, September 16, 2024 (LANA) - The Libyan Hand Surgery Association is preparing to organize the first international hand surgery conference from October 12 to 14 in the city of Benghazi.

The conference will be held in cooperation with the Federation of Arab Hand Surgery Associations, and under the auspices of the Prime Minister's Office in the Libyan government assigned by the House of Representatives.

The conference aims to exchange experiences and knowledge between doctors and surgeons specialized in hand surgery, from Libya and twenty Arab and foreign countries.

The head of the Benghazi Hand Surgery Association and head of the conference, Dr. Abdul Rahim Al-Jiar, told the Libyan Al-Anbaa newspaper: This conference is an opportunity for new doctors to get to know a group of the most famous doctors and help them form their desire to undergo new experiences in this field.

He pointed out that the target group of this conference and its participants are: doctors from several specialties, as well as internship students and medical students "specialists".

Regarding the conference's themes, Al-Jiar said: It includes several themes, including complex hand injuries and the possibility of treating them, hand diseases and how to diagnose and treat them, as well as congenital and acquired hand deformities and the possibility of diagnosing and treating them.

He explained that the conference will discuss the use of stem cells and artificial intelligence to serve this field, stressing the importance of these technologies in hand restoration and rehabilitation operations.

He added that the conference, which will last for three days, will include a presentation of the best types of prosthetic limbs in this field.

It is worth noting that the Libyan Hand Surgery Association was established in Benghazi in 2017, and obtained recognition from the National Authority for Scientific Research. It is a member of the Federation of Arab Hand Surgery Associations, which includes 15 Arab countries, and an associate member of the African Hand Surgery Federation.
