The meeting discussed ways to resolve the crisis of the Central Bank of Libya based on the provisions of the political agreement and the "Bouznika" agreement on sovereign positions in a way that ensures avoiding the continuation of the crisis and stopping its negative effects on the national economy and the financial situation of the Libyan state.
According to a statement by the spokesman for the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abdullah Belhaq, "The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, confirmed that this crisis was caused by the Presidential Council's overstepping of its tasks and duties specified in the political agreement and its leaping over the powers of the House of Representatives and the State Council, reiterating his emphasis that the Presidential Council bears full responsibility for storming the Central Bank and tampering with its contents, the latest of which was what happened in one of its most important financial and information departments.
For her part, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. Rosemary Di Carlo, stressed the need to resume the political process immediately after ending the crisis of the Central Bank of Libya, so that a unified government can be formed, the political and institutional division can be ended, and work can be done to organize presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously. She also praised the achievements made in the field of reconstruction, development, and national reconciliation in southern Libya, according to Belhaq.
