Benghazi 10 September 2024 (Lana) United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary A. DiCarlo, met yesterday with the members of the Joint Military Commission 5+5 (JMC) in their first meeting this year in Benghazi.

The UNSMIL stated that the meeting focused on discussing urgent security issues, strengthening the ceasefire agreement, and the need to unify the state’s institutions.

The UNSMIL added that DiCarlo met representatives from Libyan youths as well as civil society, and they expressed their hope for improving human rights and shared their visions for an inclusive national political process.
