The Ministry of Interior of the government assigned by the representatives condemns the storming of the Central Bank of Libya in Tripoli and the kidnapping of a number of its employees.

Benghazi, August 26, 2024 (LANA) - The Ministry of Interior of the government assigned by the House of Representatives condemned in the strongest terms what was done by elements claiming to be assigned by the Presidential Council yesterday, Sunday, by storming the Central Bank of Libya in Tripoli by force without any legal basis and their bias towards one party over the other in the ongoing dispute over the legitimacy of the Presidential Council's assignment of a board of directors for the bank, as well as the incident of kidnapping a number of bank employees for the same purpose, according to a statement by the ministry.

In its statement, which was published on the government's Facebook page, the ministry held all parties responsible for these actions fully legally responsible and for the safety of the bank's employees, stressing its keenness and full commitment to protecting state institutions and their independence in accordance with the laws and legislation in force in the Libyan state.

The ministry stressed that it would take all legal measures regarding this incident, calling on the investigative authorities represented by the Public Prosecution to initiate an investigation into the incident against the perpetrators of these acts, according to the statement.
