Tunis, 26 August 2024 (Lana): Head of the Tunisian-Libyan Business Council, Abdel Hafeez Al-Sakroufi, said that the crisis of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) has an effect on the economic exchanges, with Tunisia expressing his concern about the continuation of this crisis.

Al-Sakroufi said that the documentary credits opened by banks to manage trade deals have been suspended since the beginning of the CBL’s crisis.

He also affirmed that the delay in disbursing the Libyan budget and the successive crises could hinder the goals of increasing economic transactions between the two countries, explaining that the flow of goods and individuals between Tunisia and Libya has improved recently after the reopening of the Ras Ajdir border crossing after a closure that lasted more than three months.

Al-Sakroufi said that economic and trade relations between the two countries require the removal of all obstacles, including the movement of money between the two countries, stressing the need to lift restrictions on the movement of money for commercial activities that take place across land borders.
