Saleh meets with Khoury
Pulbished on:Al-Qubbah, August 23, 2024 (LANA) - Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, stressed the continuation of cooperation and communication with the United Nations mission and the international community, and the House of Representatives' commitment to the political agreement and the outcomes of the 6+6 Committee and everything that would end the political division and achieve the will of the Libyans to organize presidential and parliamentary elections.
This came during his meeting in his office in the city of Al-Qubbah on Thursday, with the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Ms. "Stephanie Khoury".
During the meeting, according to the spokesman for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Belhaq, the latest developments in the situation in Libya were discussed, especially those related to the Central Bank of Libya, where the need to calm the situation was emphasized in a way that ensures that the work of the most important financial institution in the country is not negatively affected, so that the formation of the Board of Directors of the Central Bank is proceeded with in accordance with the applicable legislation.
The meeting also emphasized the need to make more efforts and endeavors from various parties to resume the political process in a way that leads to an agreement to unify the executive authority and form a unified government to proceed to organize presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.
For her part, Stephanie Khoury stressed her continuous and serious efforts to rebuild trust between the various parties by bringing viewpoints closer together.
