“Unilateral actions impede progress toward an inclusive political process,” Orlando says.
Pulbished on:Tripoli 21 August 2024 (Lana): EU Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, stressed during his meeting yesterday with the President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, that unilateral actions impede progress toward an inclusive political process.
“I discussed with Al-Menfi the recent developments in the country, and I urged all stakeholders to work closely with the UN to reduce tensions and revive the political process through dialogue to protect Libya’s stability and safety,” Orlando said in a tweet.
“I reiterated the concern of UNSMIL that unilateral actions impede inclusive political processes and such actions exacerbate divisions, exposing Libya's global financial system at risk and leading to negative repercussions for its citizens," he added.
“I stressed the need for transparency and accountability in the management of national resources to promote unity and resolve internal conflicts, and I assured him that the EU is ready to play its role in supporting the dialogue led by Libya and facilitated by the UN," Orland concluded.
