Pulbished on:Tripoli, July 18, 2024 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, directed the necessity of organizing the supply of gas to power stations between the National Oil Corporation and the General Electricity Company, providing the necessary needs after controlling them, and activating the committee of major consumers formed between them.
This came during the meeting held by Al-Dabaiba with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Electricity Company, Muhammad Al-Mashai, the Acting Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Masoud Suleiman, and the President of the Libyan Iron and Steel Company, Muhammad Al-Feki, in the presence of the directors of the technical departments of the Electricity Company, in order to follow up on the conditions of the electrical network and the causes of outages in a number of regions, and regulation of gas supplies to power stations by the Petroleum Corporation.
According to the Prime Minister's Media Office, Al-Dabaiba stressed the need to address outages, increase coordination between technical departments, and develop urgent solutions to stabilize the network, in addition to working to complete the supply and installation of electrical meters with the aim of rationalizing and controlling consumption.
The Director of the Production Department of the Electricity Company presented a position regarding the productivity of the operating stations, which amounts to 8,200 megawatts, considering it sufficient for the network to operate in its normal form, indicating that the lack of natural gas supplies at a number of stations contributed to the power outage in the past days in a number of cities, stressing work to address it. In coordination with the National Oil Corporation.
He explained that the construction of the network in the field of distribution is proceeding according to the approved plan after many years of neglecting the plan to maintain and develop distribution lines, in addition to supplying transformers and various spare parts, installing, distributing and operating them to confront the drop in voltage and ensure the stability of the network, adding that work is progressing well in the city of Benghazi and its suburbs and the south. Tripoli and the West Coast, in addition to an urgent plan for a number of municipalities in the south.
