Pulbished on:Tripoli, July 10, 2024 (LANA) - The European Union announced the allocation of (500) thousand euros as humanitarian funding to the World Health Organization, with the aim of providing primary health care to Sudanese refugees arriving in Libya.
The European Union mission statement explained that more than 1,200 Sudanese enter Libya daily from Kufra, and this number represents a six-fold increase compared to December 2023.
The mission indicated that nearly half of these arrivals are women and children, and most of them join the 40,000 thousand Sudanese already present and spread throughout southeastern Libya.
According to the mission, the World Health Organization, according to the report, will send medical teams, including mental health specialists, in addition to providing supplies and equipment to enhance health services in 6 primary health care facilities, noting that mobile clinics will be established to provide medical treatment directly to the Sudanese, pointing out that this humanitarian intervention will focus on the border areas, which have been most affected by the growing number of vulnerable Sudanese fleeing the conflict.
