Tripoli, July 3, 2024 (Lana) The Head of the High Council of State (HCS), Mohamed Takala, received yesterday at the council's headquarters in Tripoli the Acting Head of UNSMIL, Stephanie Koury, and her accompanying delegation.

The communication office of the council stated that the meeting, which was attended by the First Deputy, Massoud Obaid, and the Second Deputy and the Rapporteur, Belkacem Dabarz, discussed developments in the Libyan political situation and UNSMIL's vision of the proposals to solve the Libyan crisis and reach an inclusive consensus that ends transitional stages.

The meeting also discussed practical steps to hold presidential and parliamentary elections based on political agreements through an inclusive vision presented by the head of the council to UNSMIL, which is approved and agreed upon by the House of Representatives, leading to fair elections accepted by all.

Koury stressed the importance of viewpoint approximation between political parties and bridging the gap of disagreement to achieve stability for the country and support it to play an effective role at the regional and international levels.
