El-Kabeer participates in the meetings of the governors of African Central Banks in Basel.

Tripoli, July 2, 2024 (Lana): The Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Al-Siddiq El-Kabeer, participated in the meeting of Governors of the African Central Banks on the sidelines of the annual meeting for International Settlements at the bank’s headquarters in Basel, Switzerland.

According to the Facebook page of the CBL today, the meeting discussed the experience of the international central banks of France, Canada, Europe, Japan, and the US Federal Reserve in managing inflation, the challenges facing the African central banks, the need for coordination and cooperation between them, the role of central banks in the financial stability of the countries, and the importance of the central banks' independence.

The meeting was attended by the Executive Director of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, John Williams, the Director General of the Bank for International Settlements, Augustin Carstens, the Governor of the Bank of Japan, Kazua Ueda, the Governor of the European Central Bank, Christine Lagarde, and a number of governors of global and African central banks.
