Libyan experts participate in an African workshop in Tunisia.

Tunisia, June 29, 2024 (LANA) - Libyan experts participated in an African workshop today, Saturday, under the title “Earth Observation for Sustainable Development... Linking Science, Technology and Legislation,” organized by the “Sahara and Sahel” Observatory in Tunisia.

The workshop, which includes experts from the observatory’s partner countries in North Africa (Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Mauritania), in addition to representatives from some African countries, addresses the use of space technologies to confront natural challenges and achieve the 2063 Agenda.

The Remote Sensing Center participated in the workshop through its director, Akram Al-Kasseh, where he gave a presentation on “Methods for sustaining the use of modern platforms and sciences in North Africa to preserve natural resources.” Engineer Abdul Raouf Al-Hamdi also shared his experience in using the “Al-Misbar” platform in agricultural studies.

The acting director of the University of Tripoli, Khaled Ghouma, spoke about “using earth science tools to monitor land degradation,” reviewing the experiences of some colleges in this field.

A faculty member at the College of Agriculture in Tripoli, Bashir Noir, gave a presentation on “The Role of Technologies in the Field of Modern Agriculture,” and successful experiences in using geospatial platforms to monitor agricultural crops and managing water resources.
