The National Unity Government issues a circular regarding the import of internationally controlled medicines.
Pulbished on:Tripoli, November 26, 2024 (LANA) - The Pharmacy Department of the Ministry of Health in the National Unity Government announced that it disclaims responsibility for any shipment of internationally controlled medicines that arrives at ports, unless it obtains prior supply permission from the Ministry before supplying.
The administration said, in a circular published on the ministry’s Facebook page today, Wednesday, that it will not consider any requests from drug supplying companies related to allowing the circulation of any internationally controlled drugs after they are supplied to the ports, unless the request is accompanied by a prior supply permit.
The Pharmacy Department has previously approved controls and conditions for the circulation of narcotic drugs and controlled psychotropic substances, for the purpose of achieving a balance between the availability of these drugs for legitimate medical use while ensuring that they are not misused.
Controls for the circulation of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances include conditions for their supply and circulation in hospitals, specialized centers, private pharmacies, and private therapeutic institutions.
The latest measure comes in order to protect society from the scourge of addiction, and in implementation of the legislation in force in this regard, and the responsibility and role of each entity according to its activity and the type of service it provides, according to the Ministry.
