Tripoli, June 10, 2024 (LANA) - The Public Prosecution ordered the imprisonment of former administrative and financial officials in the Ministry of Labor who were proven involved in the embezzlement of one million three hundred and forty-seven thousand dinars from the Ministry’s account with the Central Bank of Libya.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office reported that the defendants used their job powers to enable an accused to access bank checks that contained financial values ​​that he was ordered to pay as financial dues to one of the Ministry’s female employees. The accused deliberately forged the data on the checks and submitted them to the Republic Bank branch in the city of Mizdah, thus seizing the amount of one million three hundred and forty-seven thousand and one hundred and forty-five dinars.

 The office explained that the prosecution decided to detain the accused pending investigation. It ordered the arrest and production of the beneficiary of the seized sum of money.
