The Deputy Special Representative said on her account on X that the discussions dealt with ways to rebuild confidence between the parties to the Libyan crisis, and preparations for organizing elections whose results would be acceptable to all. They also touched on issues related to the fair sharing of resources, and addressing security challenges at the internal and external levels.
"Khoury" also held a meeting with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Benghazi, during which she heard the opinion of the Chamber's Board of Directors regarding the required economic reforms, the impact of political divisions in Libya, and the deteriorating economic conditions on the local business community. .
She said, “The Chamber’s Board of Directors stressed the need to update legislation to ensure the independence of the private sector.” It also called for establishing a fair mechanism for distributing and monitoring credits in hard currency, and adopting a monetary policy that guarantees the stability of the currency exchange rate and protects the purchasing power of citizens.
