Ministry of Health discussing with the WHO the strengthening and development of the health sector in Libya.

Tripoli, May 17, 2024 (LANA) - Deputy Prime Minister of the National Unity Government and Minister of Health, Ramadan Abu Jannah, discussed Thursday with the representative of the World Health Organization and the head of the mission in Libya, Ahmed Zuwaiten, the strengthening cooperation between the Ministry of Health and the international organization, and developing the health sector in Libya.

The Ministry of Health stated that, at the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Health welcomed the representative of the World Health Organization and his accompanying delegation, and expressed his keenness to strengthen the partnership between the Ministry of Health and the organization, pointing to the importance of creating a state of integration between the two sides.

For his part, the WHO representative, stressed the organization’s keenness to strengthen the partnership in work and build on what was accomplished previously, and to adopt the principle of transparency in joint work, which leads to raising the efficiency of the health sector in Libya.

As well as, supporting the Information, Awareness and Health Education Office at the Ministry of Health, supporting the Pharmacy and Medical Supply Department, and providing the necessary expertise in the field of surveys, especially with regard to tumors and incurable diseases.

The WHO representative provided a comprehensive explanation about the organization’s activity inside Libya, the programs, plans and strategies, most notably a guide to risks in the health sector, training workers in health facilities on the health emergency strategy.
