Ghadames May 15, 2024 (Lana) UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Georgette Gagnon, met yesterday with acting mayor of Ghadames, municipal council, community leaders, youth and women in the city.
“We discussed the importance of security and vital transport infrastructure, the need for increased provision of water systems, healthcare, and education for residents, urgent support for local agricultural concerns, and more employment opportunities for youth and women,” Gagnon said in a tweet.
“I stressed the government’s key role in supporting sustainable development initiatives across all municipalities and the UN’s efforts to work with communities and government to advance peace and prosperity for all people in Libya,” she added.
