Pulbished on:Tripoli, March 3, 2024 (LANA) - The Minister of Housing and Construction, Abu Bakr Al-Ghawi, discussed today, Sunday, with representatives of the United Nations, the issue of the displaced and those affected by the effects of wars.
During his meeting with representatives of the Commission, Al-Ghawi asked to present their successful experiences in reconstruction in some countries that were exposed to war damage, with the aim of benefiting from the experiences gained and applying them in Libya.
The meeting discussed the tasks assigned to the Ministry of Housing and Construction pursuant to Cabinet Resolution No. 271 of 2012, which include inventorying buildings damaged by previous wars. It also reviewed the mechanism of work of the Central Committee for Compensation, which includes assigning agencies affiliated with the Ministry to assign engineering offices to assess the damage to those affected during previous wars.
On the other hand, the meeting discussed the disbursement of guarantees for damages from the 2011 war and the importance of securing the necessary financial allocations to continue the disbursement and alleviate the suffering of citizens who were affected by the war.
This meeting comes within the framework of the efforts of the National Unity Government to deal with the challenges of reconstruction and compensation after years of wars and conflicts.
According to what was published by the Ministry’s media office, it is expected that this meeting will contribute to strengthening cooperation between the Ministry and the United Nations, and exchanging experiences and knowledge to achieve tangible progress in the file of displaced persons and compensation.
