WFP warns of the deteriorating situation in Sudan.
Pulbished on:Geneva, February 03, 2024 (LANA) - The World Food Program warned today, Saturday, of the deteriorating situation in Sudan, which it described as catastrophic. It called on the warring parties to provide immediate guarantees for the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to areas affected by the conflict.
The program confirmed, in a statement, that many displaced people are trapped without being able to reach them with life-saving aid, noting that about 18 million people across the country face acute hunger despite the efforts being made to provide food assistance.
Also it expressed shock, that the number of hungry people had doubled compared to last year, with an estimated five million people suffering from emergency levels of acute hunger due to conflict in areas such as Khartoum, Darfur and Kordofan.
