Interior Ministry discusses with the EU mission combating illegal migration.

Tripoli, January 30, 2024 (Lana): The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Public Affairs, Major General Mahmoud Saeed, met with the Ambassador of the European Union Mission to Libya and the Director of the Mission’s Migration Project in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Hospital Affairs, the Director of the General Department of Security Operations, the Director of the European Affairs Department at the Foreign Ministry, and the Head of the International Organizations Department in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

The Interior Ministry stated that the meeting discussed extending fruitful cooperation in several areas, including combating illegal migration as well as legal aspects of dealing with illegal migrants in line with local legislation and international agreements approved by Libya.

The meeting stressed the importance of setting a clear and joint working mechanism to address illegal migration from source countries.
