Tripoli, January 25, 2024 (LANA) - Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdel Hamid Dbaiba, met today, Thursday, with the UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, in the presence of both Ministers of State for Cabinet Affairs, Communications and Political Affairs.

According to the Prime Minister’s Media Office: This meeting was devoted to discussing the political situation and examining preparations for holding a meeting of the Libyan parties under the auspices of the United Nations mission.

Batili reiterated his welcome to the Prime Minister's acceptance to attend the meeting and to nominate delegates, which he considered a positive step, stressing that the mission is continuing consultations and meetings with other parties in order to engage in the United Nations approach.

During the meeting, Dbaiba confirmed his acceptance of the dialogue that aims to reach elections in accordance with fair laws that end the transitional stages.

The role of the Supreme Finance Committee in carrying out the tasks entrusted to it was also discussed, with the aim of ensuring the fair distribution of resources and following up on the agreement in accordance with controls that contribute to disclosure and transparency.
