Tripoli, December 20, 2023 (LANA) - The two representatives of the Presidential Council, “Moussa Al-Koni” and “Abdullah Al-Lafi,” in their capacity as the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, held, this afternoon, Wednesday, an expanded security meeting of the Defense and Internal Security Council to discuss the security and military conditions in the border areas linking Libya, Tunisia and Algeria. .

The meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, the Minister of Defense, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Muhammad Al-Haddad, the Head of the General Intelligence Service, Muhammad Al-A’ib, the Minister of the Interior, Imad Al-Trabelsi, and the Head of the Internal Security Service, Lutfi Al-Harari.

A source in the Presidential Council reported that the meeting was attended by the Chief of the Border Guard Staff, the Advisor to the Chief of General Staff for Security and Border Affairs, and the Head of the Logistics and Supply Authority.

The source added that during the meeting, the Army Border Guard and the Ministry of Interior were assigned to work on securing the western border crossings.

The meeting also stressed the continued follow-up of the security situation in the western region and the border points in coordination between the competent agencies, to develop security plans that contribute to preserving the security, stability and sovereignty of the nation, according to the source.
