New York, December 20, 2023 (Lana) The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, called on the key Libyan stakeholders to engage in the initiative of the UN Envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, in good faith and in a spirit of compromise to break the current political deadlock.
Guterres stressed that engagement in good faith will pave the way for inclusive, credible, and transparent elections in Libya.
Bathily indicated that the key Libyan stakeholders that he invited to the meeting regarding the political dialogue did not directly reject the invitation, but some of them set conditions for participation.
