Norland meets with Benghazi Scout leaders.

Benghazi, December 20, 2023 (Lana): U.S. Special Envoy Richard Norland and the Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy, Jeremy Berndt, met yesterday in Benghazi with the Benghazi Scouts and Guides Commission team to discuss the initial phases of implementing a program funded by the USA on psychological support for victims of torrents and floods that swept the cities and regions of eastern Libya last September.

The Embassy said on its Facebook page that the program is equipping 65 Scout leaders with essential skills to aid children and families affected by the floods.

“As a former scout myself, I was honored to meet with Libyan Scout leaders working the frontlines and providing vital assistance to those affected by the devastating floods in eastern Libya,” Norland said.

“Their heroic efforts are an inspiration to youth and community volunteers striving to provide a better future for the Libyan people,” he added.
