Al-Sayeh confirmed in an interview with the Libyan News Agency delegate in the capital, Beijing, that four prisoners were deported, one of whom was a prisoner in the city of Shanghai, until his sentence ended and he was deported to Libya under the direct supervision of the Libyan embassy in Beijing.
He explained that the other three prisoners who were recently deported after an agreement with the Chinese police authorities were in the initial stages of investigation, as the embassy made a great effort before referring them to the Chinese courts for trial.
Al-Sayeh said that there is one Libyan prisoner in Hunan Province, Chansha region, who was sentenced to 7 years in prison and a fine estimated at 30,000 yuan, noting that this prisoner's trial procedures ended in the year is 2023 and his sentence was confirmed.
The Chargé d'Affairs confirmed that the embassy's employees are in direct contact with the prisoner, and are visiting him to check on his health and provide him with all the rights guaranteed by the law.
He explained that approvals had been obtained from the Chinese side to deport him and complete the remainder of his sentence inside Libya, stressing that the deportation of the person concerned now depends on a number of procedures, including a pledge from the Libyan state or a memorandum of understanding for reciprocal treatment with the Chinese side.
Al-Sayeh indicated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is now working with the Ministry of Justice to prepare a memorandum of understanding and assign the embassy to sign this memorandum of “reciprocity” with the Chinese side, noting that there are many Chinese positions in Libya, whether in the east or west of the country.
Al-Qaim concluded his speech to the “LANA” envoy, saying that over the past period, many Chinese people have been arrested inside Libya on the grounds of counterfeiting electronic currency, or what is known as “Bitcoin,” and a number of them were released and others were retained.
