Beijing, December 19, 2023 (LANA) - An advisor in the consular section of the Libyan embassy in Beijing, Abdul Karim Al-Tayeb Al-Soudi, said that the number of members of the Libyan community in China decreased to “128” people, after the total number was “355.”

In a special statement to the Libyan News Agency (LANA) delegate in the capital, Beijing, Al-Soudi attributed the reasons for this decline to the repercussions of the Corona pandemic and the accompanying strict measures and restrictions that were imposed by the Chinese authorities in the country.

He stressed that they are in direct contact with all members of the Libyan community now present throughout China, noting that a room has been created on the WeChat website, called the “Libyan Community,” which includes all members of the consular section and aims to receive all complaints related to members of the community. .

Al-Soudi added that “62” new passports were issued to Libyan citizens during the recent period, stressing that there are no problems facing members of the community, and that they are almost non-existent compared to the problems facing other Arab communities.

Regarding the bilateral trade movement between China and Libya, he said that the most prominent goods that go to Libya are “furniture, household and electrical appliances, clothes,” and other products that the Libyan market needs.

On the other hand, Al-Soudi added that the Libyan authorities continue to grant visas to Chinese who wish to travel to Libya, on a regular basis, pointing out that their number had reached “342” people as of September 30 of the current year.

The advisor at the Consular Section indicated that these visas are granted to them after the approval of the Passports, Nationality and Foreigners Affairs Department in Libya.
