Batili: Libyans are suffering from increasing economic and social difficulties despite their country's enormous wealth

New York, December 18, 2023 (LANA) - The UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili, said on Monday that Libyan citizens are increasingly suffering from economic and social difficulties despite the enormous wealth that their country enjoys.
Briefing the Security Council, Batili added that Libyans’ demands to end corruption and mismanagement resonate loudly across the country, as reports from the Central Bank of Libya and other oversight bodies clearly show the escalation of public spending through questionable measures.
The UN envoy indicated that the Supreme Financial Committee established by the Presidential Council has not yet fully begun its work.
