The delegation of the High National Elections Commission meets with the Chairman and members of the Board of the Iraqi Independent High Electoral Commission.

Baghdad, December 17, 2023 (LANA) - The delegation of the High National Elections Commission, headed by its board members, “Abdul-Hakim Al-Sha’ab” and “Abu Bakr Marada,” met today, Sunday, with the Chairman of the Board of the Independent High Elections Commission of Iraq, Judge Omar Ahmed Muhammad, as part of a delegation’s visit. The Commission traveled to Iraq to participate in monitoring the elections of the Iraqi provincial councils scheduled to be held on December 18, 2023.

   The High National Elections Commission stated that the delegation discussed ways of cooperation between the two commissions in the field of election monitoring, and the exchange of expertise and experiences in this field.

It was pointed out that the member of the Commission, “Al-Shaab,” who handed over the Commission’s shield to the Chairman of the Iraqi Commission Council, in appreciation of the efforts made to make these elections successful, praised the efforts made by the Iraqi Commission in organizing the provincial council elections... expressing his aspiration for further cooperation between the two commissions to enhance the integrity and credibility of the elections.

The Commission added that the meeting was attended, from the Iraqi side, by the Vice-Chairman of the Commission’s Council, “Judge Fayyad Yassin,” and members of the Council: Judge “Amer Al-Husseini,” Judge “Ali Rashid,” Judge “Hussein Abdel-Sada Bahir,” Judge “Daham Akram,” Counselor “Dr. Ahlam Al-Jabri,” and the Counselor. Dr. Fattah Muhammad Hussein and the head of the electoral administration, Judge Abbas Farhan Hassan.
