Tripoli, December 14, 2023 (LANA) - The Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Libya, “Abdullah Batili,” met today, Thursday, in Al-Aziziya, with the Commander of the Western Military Region, Major General Osama Juwaili.

Batili said in a tweet on his account on the X platform: We discussed the current political and security situation and the necessity of Libyan leaders responding to the demands of their people to end the current stalemate.

Batili added, saying that Major General Juwaili assured me and the military officers attending of their commitment to contribute positively to unifying the military institution, securing the borders, and disarming, demobilizing and reintegrating the armed formations. They also expressed their clear commitment to securing the electoral process in order to put the country on the path of stability and prosperity.
