Gaza - November 24, 2023 (LANA) - Horrific scenes reported by news agencies from eyewitnesses after the announcement of the temporary truce that began today, Friday, revealed the extent of the catastrophe, crimes, and massive destruction committed by the Israeli occupation forces against defenseless civilians in the Gaza Strip.

In the first minutes of the truce, hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians went to inspect their homes and neighborhoods, especially in the border areas and those into which Israeli military vehicles had penetrated.

The Turkish Anatolia news agency said that the Palestinians discovered the extent of the catastrophe, crimes and massive destruction left by the Israeli forces in their areas of residence.

Eyewitnesses reported to Anadolu correspondent that during their return to their homes in the western areas of Gaza City and in the towns of Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia, they found the bodies of dozens of Palestinians who were killed by the Israeli army.

The witnesses explained that the bodies were decomposed, indicating that they had been killed several weeks ago, either during the incursion operations or during the exodus from Gaza City to areas south of the Strip.

The Palestinians also discovered a massive amount of destruction caused by the aerial bombardment and Israeli ground incursions into the areas of Gaza City and the north.

Witnesses reported that they found entire residential neighborhoods containing hundreds of buildings and tens of thousands of housing units completely destroyed. In addition to the massive damage to roads, buildings of government and private institutions, infrastructure, and water, electricity, and communications networks.

The agency explained that among the areas that witnessed widespread destruction were the towns of Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahia, Jabalia, the neighborhoods of Al-Rimal, Tal Al-Hawa, Sheikh Ajlin, and the vicinity of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City.

Rescue crews also began trying to recover dead bodies from some of the destroyed buildings in those neighborhoods, according to witnesses, noting that a great shock struck thousands of Palestinians when they saw their homes destroyed and surrounded by corpses and blood.

Palestinian Suhail Abdel Nabi from the Bir al-Naja area in the town of Jabalia said that he was shocked when he discovered that his house, which he had left intact about two weeks ago when he fled the area to the al-Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City, was destroyed.

Abdul Nabi added to the Anadolu correspondent in a telephone conversation: I left on foot in the morning from one of the schools where I was with my family in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, and two hours later I arrived to discover that my house was completely destroyed.

He continues, “We found the bodies of dead people in our area, who are family members who tried to flee the area a few days ago and were targeted by the Israeli army with artillery shells and military drones.”

Also in the northern regions, especially around the Indonesian Hospital in the town of Jabalia, massive destruction was widespread after the Israeli army stormed the hospital and bombed its surroundings with a large number of shells during the hours last night.

The Director General of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Munir Al-Bursh, said in a statement to Anadolu Agency that the Israeli occupation violently bombed the Indonesian hospital last night, and its tanks and bulldozers demolished its walls.

He added that a tank entered the main building of the hospital after destroying its gate, demolishing one of its walls, and opening fire on patients and medical staff, which led to the death of an injured woman.

He pointed out that all the streets surrounding the Indonesian hospital were completely destroyed by Israeli tanks.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli aggression on Gaza left 14,854 Palestinian dead, including 6,150 children and more than 4,000 women, and about 7,000 missing, in addition to more than 36,000 injured, 75 percent of whom were children and women, according to the government media office in Gaza.
