Tripoli, November 23, 2023 (LANA) - The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba, received this afternoon, Thursday, the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Programme, Abdullah Al-Dardari, who is visiting Libya at the head of a delegation from the United Nations program to hold a series of technical meetings with the ministries of planning and governance, Domestic economy and trade.

     The government platform stated that “Dabaiba” welcomed during the meeting the technical and financial cooperation between the United Nations and the Government of National Unity through the United Nations Development Programme, and benefiting from the program’s experiences in different regions of the world that experienced conditions similar to the Libyan case.

    The Prime Minister of the National Unity Government directed the need for coordination and cooperation in discussing local economic diversification through the program experts and the Ministries of Planning, Economy and Trade.

        He pointed out the necessity of uniting the efforts of the Ministry of Local Government and the United Nations Development Program to implement joint programs in the municipality of Murzuq and its reconstruction due to the importance of this file locally and internationally.

    For his part, the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Program expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation programs in local administration and development and the skills of leaders and systems that it implemented in Libya, explaining that the visit of the program team comes to activate the agreements concluded with the Benghazi and Derna Reconstruction Fund and implement a number of programs and projects related to the reconstruction of Derna and the stricken municipalities as a result of the floods and torrents resulting from Hurricane Daniel, which struck the Green Mountain region last September, with a transparent mechanism and according to specific timetables.
