Tripoli, November 23, 2023 (LANA) - The person in charge of managing the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, “Al-Taher Al-Baour,” met in the city of Oyala, Equatorial Guinea, with the Chinese government’s special representative for African affairs, and the Chinese government delegation accompanying him. The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of Libya’s participation in the G10 meeting at the level of experts and foreign ministers and the summit meeting of member states scheduled to be organized on the 25th of this month in the city of Oyala, discussed Libyan-Chinese relations and the common interest of the two countries to raise the level of diplomatic cooperation, and the transfer of the entire Chinese embassy team to Tripoli is in a step similar to that of a number of Arab and Western embassies, whose diplomatic and consular missions began working from Tripoli. .

According to an official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chinese official expressed his country’s readiness to continue its support for the stability of Libya, and the Republic of China’s aspiration to coordinate cooperation with the State of Libya within the framework of its membership in the Group of Ten of the African Union, which is concerned with negotiating the course of the UN Security Council reform process and the endeavor for the African continent to obtain two permanent seats in the Council.

In turn, “Al-Baour” expressed the National Unity Government’s appreciation for the Republic of China’s response to the repercussions of the flood and torrential disaster in the city of Derna and neighboring municipalities last September, reiterating the government’s position in support of unifying the African position regarding the ongoing negotiations, and that China can play an important role in supporting the African demand to obtain the rights of the continent in the Security Council.
