Ministry of Agriculture signs a memorandum of understanding with WFP.

Tripoli, November 18, 2023 (Lana) The GNU Ministry of Agriculture signed with the World Food Program (WFP) a memorandum of understanding (enhancing cooperation to develop resilience and adaptation through national food systems) between the two parties.

This came during a meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Hussein Al-Qatrani, with the representative of the WFP in Libya, Maysaa Al-Gharbawi, and her accompanying delegation on Thursday.

"The agreement aims to develop areas with limited income, raise the standard of living of citizens there, and provide the agricultural production requirements that farmers and breeders need in those areas. It also aims to solve the problems and difficulties facing farmers, achieving self-sufficiency, sustainable development, and food security in accordance with climate change and adaptation to it,” the Ministry said on its Facebook page.

For his part, Al-Qatrani welcomed the agreement and stressed the importance of linking communication and cooperation between the sector and international organizations specialized in the area of food systems.
