Tripoli, November 15, 2023 (LANA) - The National Human Rights Commission of Libya stressed that the formation of a unified government is a basic condition to ensure the integrity and success of the elections, as well as to ensure acceptance and commitment to the results of the electoral process.

The committee stressed in a press release published on its Facebook page that achieving the condition of forming a unified government to ensure the security of the elections and the integrity of their results is extremely important and is completely consistent with the demands of Libyan citizens who are demanding that elections be held as they are a constitutional and national entitlement, and the formation of a unified government that will supervise their conduct in a way that ensures the fulfillment of their will and aspirations of the Libyan people to hold elections, in a way that meets the aspirations of two and a half million male and female voters registered in the general election registry.

The committee said, “Voters are still experiencing the shock of being let down by the scenarios of the December 2021 elections, which shattered the hopes of the Libyans, and the indicators of the international community’s influence on the political process clearly showed for the first time, and that the rising voice of the Libyans in these times, demanding a unified government, is another indicator of the state of despair and lack of confidence, as three years have passed full of empty promises, there is no escape from supporting these free voices whose echoes we hear here in the Libyan capital, Tripoli in particular, and Libya in general.”
